1. Welcome Notes
Aloha and welcome once again! Thank you for passing this newsletter along to others you know who would be inspired by our creative community.

It is winter in Hawaii. The water and air are cooler, (so yes, my wetsuit is feeling quite comfy these days)! The trees are laden with abundant grapefruits the size of small basketballs, tangerines so juicy and sweet, beautiful starfruit and the luscious lilikoi whose fragrance sends you to other worlds. We are experiencing a drought in the islands, so please send prayers for rain. We welcome the whales and their songs of wisdom and continue to enjoy the playful dolphins of the Cetacean Nation.

2. Inspirations from our Creative Community

Comments from readers:

Your creative newsletter is something I always read and benefit from. In your December newsletter I liked the description of winter in Hawaii and how you came to paint. Those personal stories appeal to me.

Congratulations to Beverly deGero, of Jarbidge, Nevada on her first two poems ever and thanks for sharing them with us!

Bev writes, I had arranged a poetry reading at my house for when my friend Chris came because I wanted to get him together with another friend, poet and writer. I figured I'd get a few poems from the library to read...No sooner had I scheduled the event and my creative poetry juices started to flow...I wrote two poems, Chris wrote one and my husband Phil wrote a good one too. They were a big hit at the reading.

Kairos Flow

In the Kairos Flow,
Heart-rending and Beautiful,
Where grief and Joy are One,
My Heart Embraces all Being,
My Pain is the Suffering of the Earth
And Out of the Mystery, Rapture is Born.

The Old John Deere

Butch's heart--big as this chasm
Has been known to go into spasm
At the sight of an Old John Deere.

Butch loves it when we razz 'em
Each time he has an orgasm
At the sound of an Old John Deere.

If Butch gets hungry, he can shoot a deer.
When he sees a rattler, he shows no fear.
But there is one thing that makes his knees go queer,
And that's his affair with the Old John Deere!

Written by Art Malear of Half Moon Bay,California, the most alive man at 80 something that I know and love!

Levi-Ubiquiti

Of all the pants I've ever seen the most ridiculous are jeans.
They're tight in front but loose in back. Winter wind blows up your crack.
If you want to sit, beware of pain, 'cause family jewels always complain.
They're woven close, there's no escape. When passing gas, you suffocate.
Riveted pockets that are so stout, you put your hand in, you can't get it out.
If left standing over night, they're hard as rocks and cold as ice.
With bare knee holes and dragging cuff, to call that style, is not enough.
Still, there they are, in every class, from dressed up prom to cutting grass.
Like one poet said, at HIS first glance.
Straight legged men in bowlegged pants?
What kind of men are these? Who wear their balls in parentheses?

LET'S SHARE and INSPIRE EACH OTHER! Please send me YOUR creative writing, articles, poems, stories, songs or stories of your creativity.

3. Ask Your Creativity Coach, Carol

Question: How do you keep your creative juices alive?

Answer from Creativity Coach Carol: It is most important to keep my creative vision alive by sharing it with others who I trust to help me hold the vision. Last week two other mandala artists and I met to share our mandalas and our visions. Not only were we inspired and moved by each other's beautiful drawings, but we each shared our higher purpose for creating and our unique visions. I came away refocused, more clear and excited. I feel supported as part of a larger whole, and already new developments are unfolding in the areas of financial resources and collaborative possibilities.

My vision is to create a global Transformance Troupe for Peace, inspiring others through color, sound, music, dance, masks, puppets, ritual and stories. Our mission is to celebrate the wonder of life, bridging nations, and people of all ages, reminding every one of their greatness, inviting them to step into the true knowledge of who they are and why they are here.

4. Joe Palladino's Meditation Star Mandala

A response to a custom star mandala I drew for Joe Palladino of Greensboro, North Carolina

Carol, The mandala you drew for me is a very strong inspiration and reminds me of a goal to become the star that I can be, to make it blossom and glow, sparkle and burst upon the world in radiant beauty. At this time in my life when my heart is very heavy with grief & loss it helps me to remember that life is worth living and not to give up and to shoot for that shining star and to work toward the brightness it will bring.

Spend 2-5 minutes looking at one of the mandalas and notice what happens. ENJOY! And please let us know what you experience meditating on a mandala.

You can learn to make your own mandalas with Judith Cornell's book, Mandala, or consider coming to Hawaii in June to attend The Alive! with Creation Mandalas Retreat. Click on this link for more information. Mandalas

5. Creativity and Sound Tip of the Month

January 2001
The sound gift for beginning of a new year, is from Ginny Katz's book Beyond the Light. The vibration of HU can connect one directly to the source. Singing HU imparts a spiritual vitality unmatched by any other mantra or heavenly word. HU lights up every atom of the body by establishing a clear connection to Soul. The purpose of singing HU is to reach into the heart of God, to connect with the highest state of consciousness, to be uplifted. One can sing HU to lift the consciousness out of old patterns and conditions. By singing or chanting HU daily, you can expand your awareness into your inner worlds. This state brings help and answers to the daily struggles and questions of life, as well as well-being for all aspects of self.

Namaste,
