One day last week my phone rang. It was a friend of mine who wanted to share her excitement with me about unblocking her creativity. She had just done this meditation because she was feeling a little stuck. After doing it she had a huge breakthrough and discovered several new creative possibilities regarding her business that gave her great joy and answered her questions about what is next for her. Color is a vital, dynamic force which powerfully effects us and
our lives. Imagine yourself in a black and white world without
color! Color has been used by indigenous peoples for centuries
for healing, ceremonies and rituals. As a vibration of light,
or radiant energy, it has profound effects on us physically, emotionally,
mentally and spiritually. Color can help us to move into balance.
As we move into the season of shorter days and longer darker nights, take your color temperature by noticing the colors around you. What colors do you enjoy in your living and working environments? How do you feel around the colors in those rooms? Which room is your favorite and why? What colors are you most attracted to wear now? How do they differ from other seasons, situations or moods? What color foods do you crave these days? Using the information below, experiment this month by raising your awareness of color. Consciously choose colors in foods, your environment, your clothing,and become aware of the powerful effect color has in your life.
Brilliant reds, flaming oranges and corals, and bold yellows are generally considered warm colors that dynamically emanate vitality, joy, enthusiasm, adventure and passion. Picture a warm crackling fire, brilliant autumn leaves, the summer sun, ripe pumpkins.
Ocean blues, meadow greens, and royal purples are generally considered cool colors that recede, relax, and calm. Picture tropical waters, lush forests, and a clear blue sky.
Here is a tour of the spiritual message of the colors in the rainbow from Healing and Regeneration Through Color by Corinne Heline.
Red: activity, challenge, adventure, physically stimulating. Good for melancholy, sluggishness, fear and timidity, bravery and courage.
Orange: a blend of red and yellow--vitality, wisdom, mental clarity, dynamic healing powers
Yellow: mentally stimulating, elevating, inspiring, soaring upward, eternal wisdom of Spirit, soul power
Green: a blend of blue and yellow--life, earth, renewal, restful, well-being, lifts outward. Use for tired or frayed nerves, headaches, nervous tension, rejuvenation.
Blue: the Spirit ray--lifts upwards, exalts and inspires us toward greater heights. Helpful for artists to immerse themselves in before creating. Use to calm inflamations.
Violet/Purple: blending red (physical) with blue (spirit)--advanced
spiritual development, the highest color vibration of the spectrum.
Use for meditation and spiritual upliftment and attunement
