It has been heartwarming to receive the many inspirational messages
from friends, family and associates since September 11th. Incredibly
poignant and creative poems, songs and writings came immediately
from peoples' hearts, transforming and giving voice to their feelings,
sharing love and life, reaffirming our shared humanity. This is
the magic that music, painting, poetry, dance, sculpture and creativity
offers. They can take our raw emotions and reflect them back to
us in a more coherent form.
The upheaval and chaos has brought our already closeknit community here on the island together for gatherings of prayer, meditation and sharing. At times like this, it is comforting for me to be with others.
My heart reaches out to you in love, with blessings for peace to you at this time of great change and transformation. I haven't really been able to write during our world's dark night of the soul, so have put off writing this for several weeks, digging deep within myself to find clarity and truth. During the dying process isn't the time to talk about the birthing and yet I know that the new life will come. So I've done my best to offer inspiration and hope to rekindle your spirits. My silk painting and swimming have been my meditations, keeping me grounded, centered and inspirited. I hope you are finding co-creative outlets for yourself. About September 11, 2001
There is a magnificent rekindling of Spirit rising like the
phoenix from the ashes of this most tragic of events. Embraced
in national patriotism, so many are vowing to not allow their
way of life to be interrupted. Isn't this the exact time to
consider interrupting our old patterns of behavior? Being shaken
to our spiritual core, left searching for answers, we reconsider
our relationship with our God. I would ask who among us has
had the strength, courage and surrender to claim our divine heritage.
What will it take? How much longer can we afford to wait?
How great a price must be paid before we live in full recognition
of the truth?

3. Creative Tips of the month: Anger Meditation & Message for Women from Strong Walking Woman
Walking Meditation When Angry
From Peace is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh
When anger arises, we may wish to go outside to practice walking meditation. The fresh air, the green trees, and the plants will help us greatly. We can practice like this:
Breathing in, I know that anger is here.
Breathing out, I know that the anger is me.
Breathing in, I know that anger is unpleasant.
Breathing out, I know this feeling will pass.
Breathing in, I am calm.
Breathing out, I am strong enough to take care of this anger.
To lessen the unpleasant feeling brought about by the anger, we give our whole heart and mind to the practice of walking meditation, combining our breath with our steps and giving full attention to the contact between the soles of our feet and the earth. As we walk, we recite this verse, and wait until we are calm enough to look directly at the anger. Until then, we can enjoy our breathing, our walking, and the beauties of our environment. After a while, our anger will subside and we will feel stronger. Then we can begin to observe the anger directly and try to understand it.

There is much work to be done, particularly for women.
Why Women?
It comes from an old Indian Proverb:
A nation is not lost as long as the women's hearts are still
high. Only when the women's hearts are on the ground -- then all
is finished, and the nation dies. The women are the life carriers.
Women need to reach inside and tap into their own female powerful
energy. The world needs much nurturing right now, more than
ever. From this female energy, men will gain their original
strength. Not the strength that economic, political and military
power gives, but true spiritual strength from where all lives
truly flourish. We need to cultivate the receptive, docile and
nurturing
energy. We cannot go on with wars, we will all die, if we do.
We have to
see in the middle of the pain and chaos the greater lessons
4. Sound Tip of the Month, October 2001--Balance and Clear
Our sound exercises this month are the toning sounds to the elements. These are suggested by Wayne Perry/Musikarma Productions. Each tone corresponds with a chakra as well as an element. The first tone is UH (low) this is for the base/root chakra (base of the spine) and earth. The second tone is OOO for the 2nd chakra (reproductive area) and water. The third tone is OH for the solar plexus (just under our breast bone) and fire. The forth tone is AH the heart chakra (heart area) and air. The fifth tone is AY for the throat chakra (throat area) and ether. The sixth tone is EEE for the Brow/third eye chakra (just above the brows) and thought and the final is the seventh tone EEE (high) for the crown chakra (top of head) and Light. Remember as you are toning these sounds allow your awareness to focus on each area of the body/chakra. A chakra is called a wheel of light. They are located along our spine, and open and close to energy much like a camera lens. These exercises will balance and clear each chakra. Blessings of balance and clearing.

5. Creative Message from Carol: Divine Chaos.
In the wake of September 11th, we are still experiencing the affects of the tragic destruction. We are in the midst of what I call Divine Chaos. Violence and war are fear based forms of releasing negative, fearful energy. Life as we know it, locally and globally, are going through a deep cleansing or detoxification process and life feels chaotic. We are called to make choices, to look at our lives and our priorities. It is truly a time for spiritual courage and to elevate our reverence and appreciation for life, others and all life forms on Earth. It is an opportunity to translate our compassion into action.
Creation bursts forth out of Divine Chaos. During the alchemical process of chaos, in the heat of the fire, the diamonds are formed. We can use this time to create new visions and energize them daily. When hearts are torn wide open through deep grief and sadness, we find clear priorities and our truest passions. We experience our aliveness.
Martin Luther King once asked What would you die for? If you don't have a cause you would die for, you don't have a life worth living. What are you living for?
This newsletter is for people who are passionate about life. What are you passionate about? What do you revere? What you are grateful for? Who and what do you love? Acknowledge these every day. Our lives, as works of art, are in the midst of great transformation. We create them daily with our thoughts, our choices, our actions and what we focus on. Focus on what you want.
Follow the dreams of your heart to remember your magnificent true Self. We are all part of one great Creator, one creative force that sources the Universe and co-creates with us. Are all aspects of your Self in alignment with your Creator?
